Mechanic will troubleshoot malfunctions in the engines, including aux power unit systems. A mechanic one repairs, replaces, and reinstalls aircraft engines with related components, and functional components, including rigging using hands and power tools. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioned or damaged components. This mechanic performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections. Worker examines turboprop engines and components for cracks, leaks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments. Mechanic tests engine operation using testing equipment Arinc 429, Hand Measuring test set, Engine Monitoring Test, and Automatic Tracking and Balancing System, to locate source of malfunction. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and compressor bleed valves, using hand and special tools. Worker is required to remove and reinstall engine using hoist or forklift. Worker will be required to record the description of the work performed, and verify the work was performed satisfactorily in the maintenance records.
