Assistant Controller in Norfolk, VA

A stable and thriving investment company is seeking an Assistant Fund Controller to join its Norfolk team. The Assistant Fund Controller will analyze accounting and investment impacts to general ledger and tax reports; review bank reconciliations; create cash and income projections; review fund financial reporting including annual and semi-annual reports, SEC filings and BOD reports; assist in training and developing associates; and coordinate special projects. This is an excellent opportunity of growth with a very generous bonus structure in addition to base salary. The candidate must have a bachelors degree in accounting or finances with a GPA of 3.2 or higher, 5+ years of accounting and finance experience, experience in public accounting, strong analytical skills, supervisory experience with a mentoring leadership style, strong computer skills particularly Microsoft Excel, excellent communication skills, ability to multitask, desire to work in a fast-paced and deadline drive environment, attention to detail, interest in the investment industry, and a proven record of excellence.
